C2 Environmental served as the environmental resource experts on a project team contracted by the National Park Service to upgrade segments of an existing rip rap revetment along the Colonial National Historic Park in York County, Virginia. The project was conducted in response to sea level rise and the need to protect the park lands from erosion and loss. C2 delineated the project area and prepared required permit applications which addressed activities within tidal rivers, non-vegetated intertidal wetlands and vegetated tidal wetlands. The project is self-mitigating through the installation of a low sill and backshore vegetated wetland plantings. The project is slated to begin construction Fall 2020.
